The Philippine National Police has denied the request of Senate President Tito Sotto to conduct a Senate Committee hearing of detained Senator Leila De Lima be held inside the PNP Custodial Center.

In a letter sent by PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde to the Senate President, he cannot give in to Sotto’s request.

Albayalde added that the Senate needs to ask permission from the court if they want De Lima to continue fulfilling her job as a lawmaker.

Aside from this, the letter also stated the Supreme Court’s decision on the case of former Congressman Romeo Jalosjos, whose job or position in government should not be used as an excuse to outdo a regular detainee.
