The Philippine National Police (PNP) has began to place checkpoints all over the country in line with the start of the election period on Sunday, Jan. 13.
The PNP on Monday, Jan. 14,said that they have already apprehended 25 individuals, and seized 27 firearms, 168 pieces of ammunition, seven bladed weapons, and 22 gun replicas.
PNP Spokesperson C/Supt. Benigno Durana Jr. also said that three people were killed at checkpoints in Bulacan and Nueva Ecija after they initiated a gunfight while attempting to evade the authorities.
The police force appealed that the public cooperate with their checkpoint operations.
