Senators then and now recalled the significant contributions of former Senate president Edgardo Angara to the country, who died at the age of 83 due to a heart attack.
The Senate held a necrological service for the late Angara around 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 16 which was attended by the family, including his wife – Gloria Manalang-Angata, son Senator Juan Edgardo Angara, and his grandchildren. The late senator’s remains were conveyed in the session hall of the Senate where the necro rites took place together with several senators, congressmen, and two former Presidents of the country.
Some of those who paid tribute to the excellence of the former Senate President were former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr., Taguig Representative Pia Cayetano, Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, Senator Loren Legarda, Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, and Senator Juan Edgardo Angara, son of the late Senate President was the one who delivered the family’s euology.
In the eulogy of former President and now Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada, he remembered the late Angara when he chose him as his running mate during the 1998 elections. While Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo tagged Angara as a “Great man with many hats”.
Senate President Koko Pimentel presented to the bereaved family a Senate Resolution in honor and recognition of Angara’s contribution to the chamber and to the country.
