The Philippines is asking for a judicial review on the case of the Filipina drug convict, Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso.

In line with this, the Philippine government is hoping that the verdict on Veloso will be lowered to a Life Imprisonment instead of the death penalty.

According to Foreign Affairs Spokesman Charles Jose, the district court of Yogyakarta saw that there’s merit on the request of the Philippines and endorsed it to the Indonesian Supreme Court for its final decision.

The Indonesian District Court found Veloso guilty on possession of 2.6 kilos of Heroin inserted in her baggage in 2010.

Veloso was arrested when she arrived at the Yogyakarta International Airport from Malaysia.
