The campaign of the Philippine National Men’s Football team, also known as Philippine Azkals, at the 2018 Bangabandhu Gold Cup in Bangladesh came to an end after losing to Tajikistan, 2-0.

After several failed attempts, Komron Tursunov scored the first goal of Turkmenistan on the 32nd minute of the semifinals game that happened in Cox’s Bazar Stadium.

The lead of the Tajikistan doubled after Axtam Nazarov scored the team’s second goal during the 96th minute.

Azkals goalkeeper Louie Casas showed commendable performance in defending the goal of Azkals even after his head got injured due to accidentally being kneed by Muxammadzoni Raximov in the 66th minute.

Prior the knock-out stage, the Azkals went undefeated throughout the group stage of the tournament after beating Laos, 3-1, and host team Bangladesh, 1-0,
