The Philippine team sweeps on Sunday, Dec. 1, the gold medals in the men’s and women’s hoop competition of the sepak taraw event in the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
The Philippine women’s team, led by the playing coach Deseree Autor, defeated Indonesia, 670-660, in the finals of the competition held at the Subic Gymnasium.
Their counterparts in the men’s team, led by Metodio Suico Jr. and Jason Huerte, defeated Cambodia, 670-450, to claim another gold medal for the Philippines, which hosts the this year’s biennial sports meet.
Myanmar, meanwhile, seized the bronze medal in the women’s division after outscoring Laos, 640-420.
Laos placed third in the men’s division after garnering 430 points.
The Philippines men’s and women’s national teams in sepak taraw target to claim more medals in the biennial sports meet including in the regu, team double, and team regu categories.
The sepak taraw team double event starts on Monday, Dec. 2.
