The Philippine National Women’s Football, also known as the Philippine Malditas, failed to enter the semi-finals of the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Jordan, after falling to Thailand, 3-1.

Kanjana Sung-Nogoen gave the first two goals of Thailand via a penalty in the 28th minute and another goal in the 53rd minute of the game in King Abdullah II Stadium.

The victory of Thailand was seemingly secured after another goal by Silawan Intamee in the 62nd minute raised their lead to 3-0 but the Malditas were persistent and Jesse Shugg gave the team its lone goal during the injury time.

Due to this result, the national team finished in third place in Group A of the tournament with a single win against Jordan, and two losses against China and Thailand.

Meanwhile, the Philippine team is set to face South Korea for the fifth place of the tournament and for the chance to qualify in the 2019 Women’s World Cup tournament.
