Passengers remain stranded in Luzon, Visayas ports

More than 160 passengers remain stranded in some ports in Luzon and the Visayas due to typhoon ‘Karen.’

Mina Marasigan, spokesperson of the National Risk Reduction and Management Council said that as or 4am (Monday), passengers were refrain from setting sail in some piers in Central Visayas, Western Visayas, Palawan, and Northeastern Luzon.

Fourteen ships and four motor bancas were also prohibited from setting sail in the said ports.

Meanwhile, the nine teachers from Antonio Tuason National High School and the two crew of the unregistered service vessel which capsized in the waters of Caduyon and Calbayog City in Samar last October 14, are now safe.

The victims were brought to Brgy. San Roque, Calbalogan City after being rescued.

The five crew of a fishing boat were also rescued in Catbalogan City, Samar amid the onslaught of typhoon ‘Karen’ last October 15.
