Malacañang has called on to the public to remain calm amidst the Pampanga City bird influenza.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, concerned agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH) and other Local Government Units are closely working with the Department of Agriculture (DA) to maintain the spread of the virus.
According to the DOH, the H5N1 bird flu does not spread easily from one person to another. People catch bird flu by close contact with birds or bird droppings. Only a few cases of human-to-human transmission was ever reported by the influenza.
Abella also explained that it is safe to eat bird produce so long as it is fully and properly cooked.
The DOH are also partnering with the different poultry handlers and response teams, handing them flu vaccinations and protective equipment’s to help quarantine virus.
