Palace contemplates 4-day work week

Atty. Romulo Macalintal

Malacanang believes that they need to thoroughly study the proposed implementation of a four-day work week in all government and private sectors in Metro Manila.

According to Atty. Romulo Macalintal, a four-day work week will help in solving the worsening traffic situation in the Metro.

Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that Malacanang needs to consult with a multi-stakeholder group regarding the said suggestion.

Coloma added that the said move will bear an exetensive implication wherein a lot of sectors may be affected.

This may include the interest of contractual employess, and also the business owners, employers and other stakeholders.

The PCOO Secretary insisted that they need to know from stakeholders if they are in favor of this proposal because this will have a direct effect on their operations.

It would be better to carefully study the said proposal and look for different alternatives in finding out the real problem behind the traffic situation in the Metro which is causing major loss in the country’s economy.

(with DZRH Florante Rosales)
