The Low Pressure Area being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has developed into a Tropical Storm and is now “Florita.”
As of 10:00AM, PAGASA last monitored TS Florita at 860 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, and is moving northwest with a speed of 11 kilometers per hour.
The tropical storm has a wind strength of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
PAGASA does not expect TS Florita to make landfall in the Philippines but it will enhance the southwest monsoon which will bring occasional rains over the extreme Northern Luzon.
Currently, PAGASA has yet to raise a tropical warning signal due to Florita.
