Filipino boxing senator Manny Pacquiao plans to initiate legal proceedings against American promotional company Top Rank Inc., headed by businessman Robert ‘Bob’ Arum
In a twitter post on Monday, September 10, Pacquiao said that he has not received payment for the broadcast of his title bout against Lucas Matthyse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last July.
“I am initiating legal proceedings against Top Rank and all other parties based on the non-payment and attempt to restrict my future rights,” Pacquiao said in his social media post.
According to the camp of Pacquiao, the incumbent WBA regular welterweight champion should receive 85% of the broadcast earnings when his July 15 bout was live-streamed in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
The legal team of Pacquiao further claimed that they have already written a letter to Top Rank but the company has yet to reply.
Currently, Pacquiao’s camp is preparing all necessary documents to file charges against Top Rank and the other personalities involved in the issue.
