AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang has moved the turn over ceremony on Friday instead of Saturday.
According to Ltcol. Harold Cabunoc, chief of the AFP Public Affairs Office, Catapang chose the day of the turn over ceremony, a day ahead of his retirement day, July 11.
Cabunoc said that President Benigno Aquino III will soon announce who will be replacing the AFP chief from his post.
The AFP-PAO chief added that the board of generals already submitted the list of names that that are in the running to be the next AFP chief to Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin. Gazmin will be the one who will give PNOY the said list and from there, the President will choose the next AFP Chief.
Cabunoc revealed that included in the list are Southern Luzon Command Chief Ltgen. Ricardo Visaya; Philippine Army Chief Ltgen. Hernando Irriberi; Philippine Air Force Chief Ltgen. Jeffrey Delgado; Western Command Chief Vice Admiral Alexander Lopez and Central Visayas Command Chief Ltgen. Nicanor Vivar.
Prior to this Gen. Catapang said that whoever will be his successor is, he will make sure that he will continue with all the projects that the AFP has started.
