The Office of the Ombudsman was asked to investigate the alleged unexplained wealth of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Dir. Sandra Cam.
Lino Espinosa Lim Jr., a resident of Uson, Masbate, sought the help of the Ombudsman to investigate the yachts, lands, beach resorts, and a convention center allegedly owned by Cam.
Atty. Israelito Torreon, lawyer of Lim, said that Cam bought about half a billion worth of properties in Masbate after working for more than a year in PCSO.
Torreon added that Cam cannot deny owning the said properties since some of them are registered in her name even if they are not included in her Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.
The lawyer said that two of three of these properties are involved in a case in Masbate.
“We asked the Ombudsman to look into this because the complainant has acquired certain documents such as tax declarations which will prove that Sandra Cam, her sister, her brother, or her son acquired these properties recently,” Torreon told reporters.
Torreon revealed that among the properties recently acquired by Cam is an island that was supposed to be inherited by his client.
“He is supposedly one of the heirs of the owner of this property but he is surprised why this property is registered in the name of Sandra Cam herself. She did not hide it in any other name but she acquired it in her own name,” Torreon explained.
The camp of Lim hopes that graft charges will be filed against the PCSO official.
