A movement is being prepared in order to convince Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go to run for Senator in the coming mid term elections in 2019.

According to Presidential Communications Operations Office Sec. Martin Andanar, the ‘Ready, Set, Go’ movement is being organized by friends of Go and not by Malacanang.

Andanar added that Go is worthy of being a Senator because of his long history in government and his dedication to President Rodrigo Duterte and to public service.

“Yung kanyang dedikasyon na ipinakita niya sa ating mahal na Pangulo nung siya ay mayor, vice-mayor, congressman. Yung public service na ipinakita ni Bong.” Andanar said during DZRH’s One On One.

Meanwhile, on the question of who will replace Go in case he wins a seat in the Senate, the PCOO official said that the President will definitely assign someone he trusts as the new Special Assistant to the President.

Andanar jested that if ever Go wins in the next elections, he can still be close with the President, but this time with the title “Senator Assistant to the President.”

“Na kay Presidente na iyon at kay SAP Bong kung ano yung kanilang magiging arrangement.” Andanara further added. “Binibiro ko nga si Bong, pwede pa naman SAP, Senator Assistant to the President.”

Other than Andanar, the movement will be attended by members of the House of Representatives, members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan, non-goverment organizations, and members of the Presidential Cabinet, including Labor Sec. Silvestre Bello III and Trade Sec. Ramon Lopez.
