New plastic driver’s licenses are now available at district offices of the Land Transportation Office in Metro Manila.
According to Attorney Clarence Guinto, director of LTO – National Capital Region, the plastic driver’s licenses were not distributed last year due to the agency needing a new contract for the development of the licenses.
However, Guinto clarified that the driver’s licenses currently being issued are for licenses with a three-year extension, and not for licenses with five-year extension.
The Commission on Audit suspended the issuing of driver’s license during the previous administration. This is after LTO’s contract with the previous manufacturers came to an end.
