The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) postponed their basketball games on Tuesday, August 6, after classes all over Metro Manila were suspended due to inclement weather.
“Due to the very late suspension of classes, the games scheduled at 10AM onwards for Tuesday, 6 August 2019, are cancelled and shall be played on a date and time to be determined later,” NCAA Management Committee chairman Peter Cayco said in a statement.
Affected games included the matches between Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights and De La Salle – College of St. Benilde Blazers at 12:00 noon, San Beda University Red Lions and Mapua University Cardinals at 2:00PM, Arellano University Chiefs and San Sebastian College – Recoletos Stags at 4:00PM.
The juniors’ basketball games between San Beda University Red Cubs and Malayan High School of Science Red Robins at 10:00AM, and Arellano University Braves and San Sebastian College – Recoletos Staglets at 6:00PM have also been postponed.
Meanwhile, the game between the Colegio De San Juan de Letran Squires and College of St. Benilde – La Salle Green Hills Greenies, which started at 8:00AM, was allowed to finish.
NCAA assured that the tickets for the cancelled games will still be honored on the re-scheduled dates.
The collegiate league also postponed games on Friday, August 2, and rescheduled it to later dates after classes got suspended because of continuous rains.
