Pork Barrel Fund scam queen Janet Lim-Napoles is set to appeal her guilty verdict from the Sandiganbayan in relation to her plunder case.
According to Atty. Stephen David, legal counsel of Napoles, his client cannot be convicted of plunder because Napoles is a private citizen.
David added that if former Senator Ramon Revilla Jr., Napoles’ co-accused, has been acquitted from the said charges, Napoles should also receive the same verdict, as she is not an official or employee of the government.
David said that they will file a motion for reconsideration within 15 days. After being convicted of the anti-graft court, Napoles will soon be transferred to the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City from Camp Bagong Diwa.
Meanwhile, even with his acquittal, Revilla expressed sadness that his former chief of staff Atty. Richard Cambe suffered a different fate.
Cambe, together with Napoles, was convicted of plunder in connection with the multi-billion pork barrel fund scam.
In an exclusive interview with DZRH, Revilla asked his supporters to continue praying for Cambe.
Revilla added that Cambe may still appeal the court’s decision until the truth about his innocence will be revealed.
