Naga City Mayor John Bongat early Friday morning announced the suspension of all classes, including Techvoc institutions, in their region as inclement weather persist causing various floodings in the area.
In an interview with DZHR’s ACS Balita, Mayor Bongat said that they issued the suspension as early as 4:30 a.m.
According to the Mayor, since Thursday 10 pm until today, the city has been experiencing unusually heavy rains reaching to about abnormal levels, causing major waterways in Naga to swell.
Mayor Bongat, on his Facebook post, also expressed his concern on the impending high tide which will reach its peak this morning with validated reports of flooding already happening in low-lying areas in the city that may worsen within the day.
The local government has also mobilized a team to prepare for possible evacuation as well as preparing relief goods for affected residents.
Local officials were quick to respond to the non-stop downpour and will be converging at 8 a.m. to further respond to the people’s needs.
