Mocha wants Rappler reclassified as “social media organization”

Presidential Communications Operations Office Asec. Mocha Uson is calling for the reclassification of the online news site Rappler as a social media organization.

According to the one-page letter that Uson addressed to her boss PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar on Tuesday, she explained that Rappler, unlike other members of the Malacañang Press Corps had no counterparts in the print or broadcasting industry.

“I respectfully request that Rappler be reclassified and moved from Malacañang Press Corps to Social Media,” the letter wrote.

Uson, who has over five million followers on her Facebook page “Mocha Uson Blog” is the assistant secretary for social media.

Uson’s request came after the loyal supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte took offense against Rappler’s political news especially those pertaining to the President.

Thinking Pinoy blogger and known Duterte supporter, RJ Nieto, recently called onto Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque to hurl a hollow block at  Rappler’s Malacañang reporter Pia Ranada-Robles.

Roque then replied via Facebook post to “not throw anything at legitimate journalists” which then caused outrage on the part of Diehard Duterte Supporters.
