The closure of the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge will be rescheduled as per the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Mostly known as Rockwell Bridge, it distinctly connects Makati City to Mandaluyong City.
It has been postponed to a later date to give more time for the dissemination of information to respective residents and stakeholders in the said area. However, the bridge closure will still take place on the tentative dates of September 26 or 29. MMDA will still have to wait on the orders of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the actual date.
The said bridge is a popular shortcut for motorists who want to skip EDSA traffic in the Guadalupe area. Upon its closure, MMDA is expecting a divert of at least 100,000 vehicles to the Guadalupe Bridge, leading to further traffic congestion on Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).
A new bridge which will have four lanes spanning more than 500 meters and costing around PHP1.2 billion is set to be constructed and expected to be completed by 2020.
