Military takes over ASG camp anew

The military was able to take over another camp of the Abu Sayyaf Group in Brgy. Cabcaban, Maluso, Basilan.

Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. said that the troops of the 68th Infantry Battalion was able to take over 38 bunkers and three outposts.

The soldiers also recovered different abandoned firearms and bullets, handheld radios and bloodied military uniforms, hidden inside sacks and were kept in a mangrove area in Langas Island, Maluso, Basilan.

The military believes that the bunkers were used by the group of Basilan-based sub-leader Furuji Indama.  There are also two Abu Sayyaf members who were injured during the latest clash in Brgy. Cabcaban.

Meanwhile, a former mayor and four other civilians were injured during a blast outside a mosque in Talayan, Maguindanao early Friday afternoon.

The other three victims have yet to be identified.
