Military arrests 14 members of Abu Sayyaf anew

Attack in Sulu believed to have been orchestrated by the Abu Sayyaf rebels

The military forces were able to captured 14 alleged members of the Abu Sayyaf including two women amid their latest clash in Brgy. Budbunga, Talipao, Sulu.

According to the report of Western Mindanao Command Capt. Rowena Muyuela, the agency will not release the names of the 14 members they arrested as they brought them to the police precinct for investigation.

The rebel group was up against the Army’s 1st Scout Ranger Company last Friday afternoon.  Five soldiers died and 28 others were injured in the said clash.

The military troops which were part of the joint task force Sulu chanced upon the said ASG members and asked what they were up to.

Their reasons were varied causing alert to the military. They brought them to the PNP headquarters to undergo probing.

The 14 arrested individuals gave different alibis and insisted that they are not members of the ASG.

The military didn’t find any ammunitions from the group.  They are currently waiting for the result of the police’s investigation.
