Meat dealers have expressed their intention to launch a five-day pig holiday in protest of the massive pork smuggling in the country.

Business entrepreneurs from the meat industry are alarmed of the influx of smuggled pork in the country, causing the slump in prices of the said meat in the market.

According to the group, it is not only the hog raisers that are being affected by technical smuggling, but also the government, due to the more than Php6.8 Billion pesos tax deficit this smuggling has cause the government for five years now.

Prior to this, the farm gate of pork falls around Php 90-Php 95 from its previous Php115/kilo.
