Sen. Manny Pacquiao defended pro-Administration senatorial candidate former Bureau of Corrections Director General and Philippine National Police chief PGen. Ronald Dela Rosa from his critics.
Netizens assail Dela Rosa, who is poised to win a seat in the Senate, for inquiring if new senators will undergo seminar or training on lawmaking and on Senate work during a television interview.
Pacquiao pointed out that Dela Rosa is knowledgeable since he has at least 30 years of experience in government service, and only lacks knowledge in the rules and processes of the Senate.
“May alam siya. Ang ibig siguro niyang sabihin yung rules ng Senate,” Pacquiao said during a press conference of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) on Thursday, May 16.
Pacquiao also offered his services to teach Dela Rosa the ropes in the Senate before Congress resumes session in July.
“Kung mag-ask sila sa alam ko sa proseso sa senado, kung ano ang alam kong mai-share ko sa kanila. July pa naman sila mag-start, pwede pa silang mag-aral ng isang linggo, dalawang linggo,” Pacquiao added.
As of 9:28PM, the un-official and partial count of election results puts Dela Rosa in fifth place with 18,690,969 votes.
