Malacanang tasks MMDA to study current truck ban in EDSA underpass

Malacanang has ordered the Metro Manila Development Authority to carefully study the current system where in trucks are not allowed to pass EDSA’s underpass.

Based on the existing MMDA policy, busses and trucks are not allowed to enter the underpass in EDSA to alleviate the traffic situation.

According to Presidential Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma, if travelling by bus will be faster, this may help MRT commuters to decide if they would take the bus instead of the MRT.

Coloma stated that the reason why commuters abhor using public busses is because of the traffic.  They would rather use the MRT, because it’s faster and cheaper.

Thousands of busses in EDSA are often without passengers because of this.

The Cabinet Secretary admitted that the MRT has too much ridership which causes long queues every day.

Again, Coloma assured the public that new MRT coaches will be delivered next year.
