Malacanang shrugs off latest Senate “drama” on Mamasapano probe

Malacanang shrugged off the move of some Senators who will be running in the coming elections, to inhibit themselves in the re-opening of the investigation on the Mamasapano incident on January 25.

This was the reaction of Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. after Senate Majority leader Alan Peter Cayetano called on his fellow Senators to inhibit in the said re-investigation to avoid being labelled as “bias.”

Cayetano was pertaining to Senator Grace Poe, who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Order and Illegal Drugs.

Coloma said that Malacanang will leave it to the Senators to decide regarding the said matter.

Meanwhile, Mayor Rex Gatchalian, spokesman of Poe said that the lady Senator will not inhibit because it will be her voluntary decision to do it.

Prior to this, President Benigno Aquino III quipped that the re-opening of the investigation on the Mamasapano incident by the opposition is clearly politically motivated.  (with DZRH Florante Rosales)
