Malacanang has once again shrugged off reports of a brewing impeachment move against President Benigno Aquino III by the opposition Congress regarding the Mamasapano encounter.
This was the Palace’s reply on the statement of the Makabayan Bloc of Congress that PNOY’s violation of the chain of command when he gave then suspended PNP Chief Dir. Alan Purisima a role in Oplan Exodus in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
PCOO Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that the new impeachment complaint against the President has no basis.
According to Coloma, PNOY didn’t violate any provision from the Constitution when he consulted Purisima to continue with the mission to arrest international terrorist Zulkipli Binhir and bomb expert Abdul Basit Usman.
The PCOO Secretary added that President Aquino’s strict order was for Purisima to inform the said mission to PNP-OIC Deputy Dir. Gen. Leonardo Espina, but the former didn’t obey the said order.
Coloma went on saying that the President only wants to explain to the public that he didn’t violate any law.
“We do not undermining the entire report of the BOI, we just want to clarify to the public that the President did not violate any law.”
