Malacanang immediately slammed the latest accusation of Vice President Jejomar Binay that the Office of the Ombudsman’s probe against President Benigno Aquino III and Budget Secretary Florencio Abad regarding the issue on Disbursement Acceleration Program is just for show.
Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Edwin Lacierda said that they do not understand the Vice President since he continues to criticize even the move of the Ombudsman against the President.
According to Lacierda, when the Senate started investigating Binay, the Vice President had asked that it should be brought to a proper forum, but when his case was brought to the Ombudsman, he started criticizing the said institution.
Lacierda is advising Vice President Binay, who happens to be a lawyer, to wait for the Ombudsman’s move regarding the DAP case.
The Presidential Spokesman claims that he finds the Vice President’s lates tirade against the Ombudsman because this is part of his “nega campaign” against the President after the latter failed to endorse him in the 2016 national elections.
“Natatawa ako. How do we say this? Vice President Binay when he is being investigated by the Senate said bring it to the proper court. ‘Nung dinala sa Ombudsman, binanatan ang Ombudsman. Ngayon, may kaso ngayon kay… Iniimbestigahan si Secretary Butch Abad, si Pangulong Aquino.”
Lacierda insisted that they are not surprised with Binay’s non-stop criticisms because the Vice President is already on campaign-mode.
“For him, it’s campaign season, so he’s trying… And also, subsequent to his break up from the administration, from the President where he attacked… Subsequent to that he’s been attacking the administration and President Aquino relentlessly. This is just part of his ‘nega’ campaign against the administration, so we are not surprised.” (with DZRH Florante Rosales)
