Malacanang bends on eradicating money laundering activities in PHL

Malacanang is determined to combat money laundering activities in the country.

Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. made the said statement after Senator TG Guingona Jr. suggested that casinos should be included in the AMLA because the US$81million money laundering controversy involving the Bangladesh Central Bank, some big-time casinos were involved in the said matter.

According to Secretary Coloma, the government aims to make sure that all financial transactions are legal and that they will stop illegal activities, including money laundering.

PAGCOR Chairman & CEO Bong Naguit said that as regulator of casinos in the country, they are willing to succumb to the policies of the AMLC.

Prior to this, Coloma said that the administration is leaving the amending of the AMLA to Congress.
