Makati Chief of police relieved from post after men tagged in extortion

The Makati City Chief of Police and Chief Intelligence Division were relieved from their positions after four of their men were arrested due to robbery-extortion and kidnapping.

C/Supt. Rene Aspera of Directorate for Personnel and Records Management, said the decision was made due to the command responsibility and not to influence the investigation conducted by the Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) in the said cases.

Sr/Supt. Dionisio Bartolome is the Chief of Police while C/Insp. Oscar Pagulayan is the Chief of Intelligence Division of mentioned station.

While the four suspects; PO2 Harley Garcera, PO2 Clarence Maynes, PO1 Tim Santos and PO1 Jeffrey Caniete are detained at CITF and to be charged of Robbery-Extortion and possible kidnapping.

Sr/Supt. Chiquito Malayo of CITF, said the mentioned cops arrested a couple in their bikeshop in Pasay City last May 8. 2017.

The suspects brought the victims in a depot and asked Php400, 000 as ransom.

On May 9, 2017 morning, they released the victims after paying Php100, 000.

When they are about to collect the additional payment, the suspects were not aware that it was already an entrapment operation by the CITF that led to their arrest.
