The Luzon grid was placed on alert with the possibility of power interruptions in the afternoon.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Monday, April 15 said the grid is placed on red alert from 1 PM to 4 PM today. Meanwhile, a yellow alert is raised from 9 AM to 1 PM and from 4 PM to 8 PM. NGCP said the alerts were raised because of insufficient operating reserves due to the forced outage of multiple power plants.
A red alert means there is insufficient power supply and authorities may implement rotational brownouts in some areas while the yellow alert is raised when power reserves have dropped below the minimum 647 megawatts but do not necessarily mean there will be power outages.
