The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board is set to approve the application of HYPE, a new transport network company, by this week.

During an ambush interview with LTFRB chairman Atty. Martin Delgra on Tuesday, he revealed that they will soon be approving the application of HYPE in order to ease the fear of the public that GRAB will increase its fare because it has no competition and the demand is very high.

Prior to this, PBA Partylist Rep. Jericho Nograles revealed that GRAB Philippines’ Php 2 per minute addition in their fare is illegal.

Delgra said that if he has his way, he would immediately issue a permit to operate to the other three TNC applicants.

OWTO, Go Lag and I-Para’s applications remain pending as they have yet to complete their requirements.

During Tuesday’s hearing at the LTFRB against Grab Philippines, Nograles insisted that the agency should oblige Grab to return to commuters the more than Php 3 billion it allegedly charged them without the approval of the LTFRB.
