50 members of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) rallied in front of Camp Aguinaldo in Edsa, Quezon City earlier today condemning several actions of the government.
The militant group’s protest decried its concerns on President Rodrigo Duterte’s alleged intense militarization in rural areas and supposed killings of several farm workers.
According to the KMP, the President has failed to fulfill his promises during the presidential elections in 2016 which included boosting the living conditions and protection of the farmers in the country.
The coalition also expressed its distress on the President’s latest threat on arresting members of the legal fronts of the communist groups as well as its financers.
On Sunday, December 3, eight Lumad farmers from the T’boli and Dulangan Manobo tribes were reportedly killed by soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Lake Sebu in South Cotabato.
The alliance KARAPATAN reported that the killed Lumad farmers were merely trying to reclaim their ancestral lands from corporate landgrabbers when they were supposedly massacred.
