Three weeks after its debut and everyone is still making time to watch the most touted film in the Philippines, “Kita Kita” (I see you).

The film which had a humble budget of Php 10 million has reached its Php 300 million sales this week.

The romantic comedy which stars Empoy Marquez and Alessandra de Rossi features a story of two star crossed lovers who met in a rather peculiar way.

Alessandra, who plays Lea, a Filipina who suffered temporary blindness after her engagement with her Japanese boyfriend fell apart meets Tony, played by Empoy, the next door neighbor who effortlessly cook and cheer up the lonely and heartbroken Lea in the foreign land of Sapporo, Japan.

The film which premiered same time as “Spider-Man: Home Coming” didn’t gain much attention until its second week, where it now ranks as the highest-grossing local indie movie of all time, elapsing the 2015 film “Heneral Luna”.

Kita Kita was written and directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo and produced by local showbiz’ heartthrob Piolo Pascual.
