Singer Kiana Valenciano was apparently prohibited from walking the runway as part of the LA Fashion Week because of her ethnicity.

In a post on her mom, Angeli Pangilinan’s social media account, the young singer narrated how they were confused on why she, Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell and five other Filipina models were not allowed to walk the runway.

According to Kiana, when asked, one of the producers said that “no Filipinos” were allowed.

Gary Valenciano’s daughter was in LA because she was invited by Jacob Meir, founder of the “For the Stars Fashion House” in Los Angeles, who supports Filipino designers.

In a statement published by the Kapamilya network,  Angeli said that she was sad because her daughter was not able to participate in the said event, which is also for a good cause, the AIDS Foundation.

The show was supposed to feature two Filipino designers, Resty Lagare and Rocky Gathercole.  In the end, Mier refused to continue with the show and insisted that he would not allow the show without his Filipino models.
