Kaya FC – Iloilo seized a 5-0 victory against Singapore’s Home United on Wednesday, March 13, at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod to claim their first win in the group stage of the 2019 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup.
Within two minutes after the kick-off, a cross from Marwin Angeles connected with Darryl Roberts who delivered the header that gave Kaya FC their first goal in the match.
Kaya FC captain Jovin Bedic then doubled the lead of the home squad with a goal in the 33rd minute.
Four minutes later, Roberts caught a cross from Connor Tacagni, and the Trinidadian forward scored his second goal to bring the Philippine club up by three before the end of the first half.
In the second half, Alfred Osei, a native of Ghana, will score goals in the 49th minute and 55th minute of the game to assure the victory Philippine squad in their second game.
Their victory against Home United, the reigning AFC Cup Asean Zone champions, allowed Kaya FC, who drew their opening game against Lao Toyota of Laos, to top Group H.
Only the top teams of each group will be guaranteed a spot in the knockout stage of the 2019 AFC Cup.
