Members of the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY) group trooped to Mendiola to express their distaste on the National Housing Authority’s plan to expel them from the government housing site in Pandi, Bulacan.
Carrying out their banners and placards, the KADAMAY members were all shouting to keep their houses.
According to KADAMAY chairperson Bea Arellano, they will not leave their homes especially when they will only be given 1,900 units from the 5,000 that they have occupied last year.
Arellano said that the government need not evict them from Pandi because a lot of units are still available in the said area.
They also said that the more than three thousand informal settlers from Pasig do not want to be relocated in Bulacan.
Prior to this, tension ensued between the group and the police after some of the units are allegedly being sold by the KADAMAY members.
