The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will be bringing home the award-winning film ‘John Denver Trending’ to Pandan, Antique.
CCP Vice President and Artistic Director Chris Millado said on Tuesday, Sept. 10, that ‘John Denver Trending will be shown on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Pandan, where the film was shot.
Millado said that the screening of ‘John Denver Trending’ in Pandan is part of CCP’s 50th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.
The film directed by Arden Rod Condez took home multiple awards, including Best Film, Best Original Music Score, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Jury Award, in the 2019 Cinemalaya festival.
The main star of the film Jansen Magpusao, a resident of Pandan, was also feted the Best Actor Award.
Millado said that ‘John Denver Trending’ will have four screenings at a covered court in Pandan since the municipality does not have any cinemas. He added that the film will be shown for free to the public.
“In that small town, there are no existing cinemas. In fact the boy who won Best Actor has never seen a Filipino movie house,” the CCP official told reporters.
“In cooperation with the mayor, we are putting up a big screen in a covered court,” added Millado, who said that the film showing is the gift of CCP to Pandan.
‘John Denver Trending’ is also set to compete in 24th Busan International Film Festival that will run from October 3 to 12 in South Korea alongside other films from India, Vietnam, China, and Japan.
