On Thursday, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada rendered his message of conceding defeat in the senatorial race through a lengthy Facebook post.
In his message, Estrada called his fellow senatorial aspirant Ramon Revilla Jr. as his ‘BFF’ (best friend forever) and kakosa — a term used to call a fellow inmate, after he was able to secure a spot in the recent official partial tally of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Estrada also added that it will be the first time that they will be apart from each other.
“Sa aking BFF at kakosa na si Sen. Bong Revilla, bagamat matagal tayong nagkasama at ngayon lang tayo maghihiwalay,” he said.
“Ipagdadasal ko ang iyong tagumpay sa Senado at ipagpatuloy mo ang laban para sa katotohanan. I love you my friend!” the former senator also added.
Revilla and Estrada were both placed on the hot seat after filing their candidacies for the 2019 midterm polls following the graft and plunder charges against them in connection with the pork barrel scam. During the campaign period, both have consistently slammed their bashers who are circulating ‘memes’ and calling them ‘thieves’ in social media.
Estrada, who has been out on bail since September 2017, is accused of pocketing Php 183 million in kickbacks from fake projects, purportedly with help from businesswoman and the alleged scam mastermind. Janet Lim Napoles.
He was granted bail by the anti-graft court on the basis that he was not the “main plunderer.”However, he is still facing trial.
Meanwhile, Revilla was acquitted of plunder case in December 2018. The prosecution had accused the actor-turned-politician of embezzling P224 million in discretionary funds while he was still a senator.
