Janine Pontejos takes home FIBA 3×3 World Cup shootout crown

Amidst Gilas Pilipinas and Perlas Pilipinas’ disappointing performance in the main tournament of the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, Perlas’ player Janine Pontejos was able to secure the crown in the Shootout tournament.

On June 12 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, Pontejos, playing for the Philippine National Women’s Basketball team, scored 14 points, and finished with a time of 41.86 seconds in order to dominate the FIBA 3×3 World Cup shootout.

The 5’5 Filipina sharp-shooter was also included in the Top-10 scorers in the Women’s Division of the tournament after contributing 27 points in Perlas’ four games to secure the ninth spot.

Second placer Alexandra Stolyar of Russia also got 14 points but lost the top spot due to finishing her run under 49.9 seconds, while Marin Hrvoje of Croati placed third after finishing with 11 points.

Maksim Dybivskii of Russia grabbed fourth place after scoring eight points.
