Indonesia confirms ransom demand from kidnappers


The Foreign Ministry of Indonesia has confirmed that 10 of their citizens were kidnapped after their tugboat was hijacked by believed to be members of the Abu Sayyaf group in the waters of Tawi-Tawi.

According to the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, the owner of the tugboat received two calls from the ASG.

Based on their statement, the caller said that they hold captives the 10 Indonesian nationals and that they are demanding ransom money.

However, no amount was stated from the said conversation.

Prior to this, the owner of the tugboat already received a call last Saturday.

The Brahma 12 tugboat came from Sungai Putting in Kalimantan, Indonesia, going to Batangas when the incident happened.
