On Friday, President Rodrigo Duterte disclosed that his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, will not be running for a Senate seat in the coming 2019 midterm polls.
“Hindi ‘yan magtakbo ng senador, hindi ‘yan magtakbo ng presidente. Maniwala ka sa akin. She’s too wise for that,” Duterte said. The chief executive revealed the details during a press briefing upon his arrival in Bali, Indonesia.
Inday Sara earlier noted that she will be seeking for a reelection in 2019. Meanwhile, Duterte remained mum on the political aims of his other son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, and said that he hasn’t talked to him “for the longest time.”
However, as of this writing, Paolo Duterte already filed his candidacy as representative of Davao City 1st district. He was accompanied by his sister, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio and her husband Manases Carpio.

Paolo said he discussed his congressional bid with members of his family. While he had yet to talk to his father, he said the President was aware of his plans.
It can be recalled that the Presidential son once resigned as Davao’s Vice Mayor in December following a public spat with his daughter and after being tagged in the P6.4-billion worth of shabu shipment that slipped past the Bureau of Customs.
