Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Wednesday, June 13 lashed back against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV after the latter’s remark claiming that she will run for the 2022 presidential race in order to keep the power under the Duterte family.
In a statement, Trillanes said that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s last resort to keep the power under their family’s authority is to nudge his daughter, Inday Sara to run for the post in 2022. He also added that the move will secure the implementation of declaring a nationwide martial law or a revolutionary government and Charter change. Duterte was previously quoted by his former presidential spokesperson, Ernesto Abella saying that he couldn’t find a better successor other than his own daughter.
“Option C niya ay itutulak niya si Sara Duterte bilang pangulo sa 2022, pero ang unang hakbang niyan ay itulak siya para senador sa 2019,” Trillanes said at the general assembly of opposition coalition Tindig Pilipinas.
However, Inday Sara answered Trillanes through a post on her Facebook account with words capitalized, “LEAVE ME ALONE, Senator Trillanes.”
“The last time a person irked me, I made sure to make it difficult for him to bring me down and Speaker Boy Nograles lost that election and was a billion pesos poorer. Like Speaker Alvarez, my advice to you is not to think of me, speak of my name, not even a whisper of Inday Sara from your ugly lips,” she said in her post. She also cited the loss of her former rival, former Speaker Prospero Nograles in 2010.
The Davao City mayor also noted her father’s statement of Trillanes saying that he might just see himself shot someday due to his “arrogance” and “tough” behavior but countered it through saying that she wanted to make sure Trillanes’s alive and in pain.
“ Leave me in peace in Davao City or else you and your friends will spend more than a billion in the 2022 Presidential elections just to make me insignificant. Let me repeat, do not bother me and my slot will be available for a yellow Senator for the 2019 elections,” Inday Sara said.
At the end of her post, Duterte-Carpio disclosed that her mother had described her as “heartless”, giving the senator a warning to not to anger her so that he “may remain relevant for the future generation.”
