President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Wednesday said he did not fire Mocha Uson, slamming previous reports claiming that the chief executive fired her. Uson then posted a video on Tuesday of her interview with Duterte on her Facebook page, where the President denied firing her.
“No. You resigned. I never fired Mocha. Siya yung nag-resign,” Duterte said.
In a report, a source said that Duterte ordered Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go to call Uson and tell her she was fired. It was also reported that some Presidential Communications Operations Office officials and employees have asked the President to fire Uson.
Meanwhile, in a text message, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea denied that Uson was fired by the President saying that she did resign. Go also denied the claims against Uson.
During her radio program, Uson dissed out reports saying that she resigned from her post, and has not been asked to step down. She explained that she had rendered her resignation letter to the office of the President.
“Hindi nga ako pinag-resign. Nag-resign ako. Ngayon ang sinasabi nila na pinatalsik daw ako so pinapamukha nila na parang sinungaling ako,” she said.
On October 3, Mocha Uson resigned from her post. She made the announcement during the Senate deliberation of the 2019 national budget for the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
Duterte also rendered his support on Uson’s announcement of candidacy as an independent candidate.
“I will support you,” Duterte said of Uson’s election plan.
