The House of Representatives will begin preparing for the impeachment trial of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman Andres Bautista.
According to House Justice Committee Chairman Reynaldo Umali, although the House is currently on recess he will be requesting the Committee members for an assemblage next week to layout the composition of the “articles of impeachment” which will be mounted to the Senate.
Umali added that they will also be discussing the creation of a “prosecution team” that would face the impeachment court.
Umali explained that not all of the allegations of Attorney Ferdinand Topacio and former Congressman Jacinto Paras will be included as an evidence on the trial.
Umali, later on, admitted that the case against the COMELEC Chief can be compared to that of the late Chief Justice Renato Corona where complainants were searching for evidence on the midst of the impeachment trial.
On Tuesday 137 House members voted against the 26-2 vote of the House Committee on Justice dismissing the impeachment charges against Bautista.
