There’s no truth to the rumor that Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares received an offer to replace Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon.
This was clarified by Presidential Spokesman Sec. Edwin Lacierda after rumors spread that allegedly, Malacanang plans on putting Henares as head of the BoC.
According to Lacierda, Henares was surprised with the said issue and he had no clue where it came from.
Lacierda insisted that Malacanang will announce if there will be any changes in the leadership of the BoC.
“I spoke to Commissioner Kim and she responded to me that nobody told her of anything, so she is not aware of any plans. Like I said, we will announce the reforms when we are ready to announce it. Kim herself says she doesn’t know” Lacierda said.
Biazon expressed his willingness to resign from his post a few days ago after President Benigno Aquino III barraged its agency during the latter’s fourth State of the Nation Address.
The BoC Commissioner texted the President stating his intention, however the President replied back by saying that he still has full confidence in him.
Meanwhile, PNOY still has to make an announcement on the resignations of Deputy Commissioners’ Danilo Lim and Juan Lorenzo Tanada.
