The Aquino administration filed charges on the alleged officials who took advantage of the more than Nine hundred Million peso Malampaya funds.
In the case filed by Justice Sec. Leila De Lima at the Office of the Ombudsman yesterday, 22 personalities have been charged with Plunder and Malversation cases.
Former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo leads the list of those being charged, which includes former Exec. Sec. Eduardo Ermita, former Agrarian Reform Sec. Nasser Pangandaman, former Budget Sec. Rolando Andaya, Budget USec. Mario Relampagos, Agrarian Reform Usec. For Finance Teresita Panlilio, former Agrarian Reform Usec Rafael Nieto, and Janet Lim Napoles.
According to De Lima, more than 75 Million pesos was pocketed by Pagandaman while 14 Million pesos went to Panlilio and Six Million pesos to Nieto.
Also, former Social Sec. of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, Ruby Tuazon, will be facing the same charges as 242 Million pesos from the Malampaya fund went to her own funds.
De Lima insisted that it perplexed her that even before the Nine hundred Million pesos Malampaya funds have been released, Napoles has knowledge of it already. (Alyson Joy Narvaez)
