There have been a series of crimes happening in the country involving suspects onboard of motorcycles.

Due to the said incidents, Sen. Richard Gordon has proposed larger plate numbers for motorcycles to minimize crimes involving riding-in-tandem.

The proposed Senate Bill No. 1128 (Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act of 2017) states that Land Transportation Office (LTO) should issue reflectorized plate number for motorcycles, including scooters.

Due to the series of incidents, under Gordon’s proposal, the plate number could be read from 12 up to 15 meters away, easily determining the details of the owner.
