Ginebra wins 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, ends Finals Series in Game-6

There was no need for a game 7, Brgy. Ginebra dominated Wednesday’s game to claim the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup championship.

Ginebra defeated the San Miguel Beermen, the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup champions, with a score of 93-77 to put an end to the Finals series and to secure their 11th championship in the league.

During Game-6 at Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Best Import of the Conference Justin Brownlee registered 31 points and 19 rebounds for Ginebra, who led by 22 points at most.

After trailing behind by 10 points in the first half, Ginebra scored eight straight points to grab a 3-point lead, 40-43, in the third quarter that extended to a 16-point advantage by the end of the period.

Best Player of the Conference June Mar Fajardo gave 29-points and 13 rebounds for the Beermen while import Renaldo Balkman finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds even after he seemingly hurt his left ankle during the finals seconds of the second quarter.

Meanwhile, Ginebra’s Scottie Thompson won his first PBA Finals Most Valuable Award after contributing 12 points and 13 rebounds for his team’s win.
